2010 Missions Conference - sharing the good news in Every Way San Diego First Assembly devotes the week of Jan. 24-31 to exploring the ever-expanding world of missions. For 2010, our team of guest missionaries includes Wayne Francis, missionary to India , Michael Dant, missionary to Slovakia , and Scott Martin, director of Global Student Missions for Chi Alpha college ministries. Sun., 1/31, 10:45 AM – Missions Celebration: Scott Martin, director of Chi Alpha Global Student Missions, identifies the “God moment” that the Lord calls us to partner with Him in reaching out to our world. The morning includes special music by the First Assembly Choir . The morning includes the opportunity to present our missions f aith p romise pledges for 2010. New session of Tunes & Tales begins for preschoolers Tunes & Tales for Tots is a fun 10-week class for preschool-aged children and their parents. The class is designed to nurture the young child's development through music, movement, stories and joyful activities. It's completely free of charge and is directed by our Children's Pastor, Shari Dresselhaus. Classes begin Monday, February 1, in the Snorkel Reef room of the Education Center. Sunday AM workshop helps you share your faith Like most followers of Christ, you want to tell people what God has done for you, but you often have problems knowing where to start. If you could use a little inspiration in this area, you're invited to a new Sunday class led by Lee Mindt. In addition to having served as an elder and a prayer leader, Lee has experience not only in teaching on evangelism, but in living an evangelistic lifestlyle. The series begins at 9 am on Sunday, February 7 in the Fireside Room, upstairs in the Ed Center (room EC 205). All are welcome! Stop by new Breezeway Cafe between services Come enjoy meeting with friends over a cup of coffee or a morning snack at the new Breezeway Café, serving you Sunday mornings between the 9:00 and 10:45 services. Enjoy fresh coffee, hot tea or cocoa, orange juice or water, along with a selection of light snacks – all for just 50 cents each! Or order your favorite espresso beverage, freshly prepared by our trained baristas, for just 2 bucks. All proceeds benefit Women's Ministries. Evening schedule notes for Feb. 7 & 14 No PM events on Feb. 7 – As Super Bowl Sunday is widely observed as an unofficial national holiday, there will be no evening events scheduled for Sunday, February 7. The regular Sunday evening schedule resumes the following week. Small groups meet on Feb. 14 – This year Valentine's Day falls on a Sunday. While most of our Small Groups will be meeting, please make sure to contact small group leaders to verify meeting times. Save the date for the 2010 Men's Retreat Men - Set aside the weekend of March 12-14 for an unforgettable dude-ranch style retreat at Calicinto Ranch in the foothills of the San Jacinto Mountains . The weekend getaway includes opportunities for recreation, horseback riding, hiking and even a golf add-on at nearby Soboba Springs. The menu includes Calicinto's incomparable ranch-style breakfasts and steak and deep pit BBQ dinners, all prepared by the friendly Pirelli family staff. And, of course, there's always great food for the soul in times of worship and hearing God's Word. Registration begins soon. Don't miss it! Is this your year for El Salvador? In 2006 First Assembly began a partnership with missionary Ron Bueno and the community San José el Naranjo in the coastal mountains of El Salvador. This year marks our fourth trip to share the love of Christ with the church and the community there by providing life-saving health projects and community outreach. And you're invited! Senior adults are invited to a taping of the Dr. Phil show in Los Angeles on Tuesday, February 23. The day includes being an audience participant in two shows. A bus will leave at 6 am and will return in the early afternoon. Bring a sack lunch. Sign up Sundays at the Saints Alive Sunday class at 9 am in the Fellowship Center. Give or sign up for events online You can now pay your tithes, contribute offerings and submit your general missions giving online on First Assembly's secure website. You can use automatic bank transfer, credit or debit card, and you can give a one-time gift or set up recurring contributions. You can also sign up for specified events online. You'll find the online giving in the left-hand column. Joshua Mission serves meals downtown on 1st, 3rd & 5th Sundays Showing love like Jesus did, First Assembly's Joshua Mission ministry serves meals to homeless San Diegans at Horizon Park Chapel, located at 6th and Fir streets near Balboa Park . First Assembly serves the 1st, 3rd and 5th Sundays of each month. To participate, please deliver ready-to-serve items to the church kitchen by noon on those Sundays.
