Big Sunday planned for Labor Day weekend

Message addresses the daily grind – Face it. Parts of your job aren't much fun. God can work with that. Pastor Bob's message, “Finding the Magnificent in the Mundane,” reflects on how our labor can please God, and how we make our workplaces different with Christ as our co-laborer.

Special music by Marla Reid, SDFA children – We welcome worship leader Marla Reid for a special time of soul-stirring, gospel-flavored worship. Marla's deepest passion is to see every person be touched by the power of the Holy Spirit and God's immeasurable love. You'll enjoy a special musical presentation by our kids' choir as well. Don't miss it!

Fellowship time to follow – It's a holiday weekend. Leave slowly! Join church friends and new guests for a free cold beverage on the lower breezeway following the service.

Schedule notes – Please note that there will be one, all-church-family service only on Sunday, September 5, meeting at 10:45 in the Sanctuary. There will be no 9 am events at the church campus. Children's events are available at 10:45 for nursery through age three.

Carol LeBeau to speak at women's event here – Save the Date!

Women – Save Saturday, October 16, for a very special day of fun, inspiration and encouragement. It's called Changed From the Inside Out, designed to be a one-day makeover for the inner you! The day welcomes San Diego anchorwoman Carol LeBeau, along with captivating speakers Susan Haber and Arlene Pellicane. The event title is inspired by the words from The Message, “Fix your attention on God. You'll be changed from the inside out!” (Romans 12:1-2) You don't want to miss this one. Mark your calendar now!

SisterChicks book group invites women for new read

The Sisterchicks meet Wednesdays to share inspiration from classic and contemporary Christian books. On Wednesday, September 8, the group will begin discussing the book The Last Sin Eater by Francine Rivers. All women are invited to come enjoy lively discussion, refreshments, fellowship and a time of prayer. Just pick up the book at a bookstore, read chapters 1 and 2, and come on by! The group meets Wednesdays in the Education Center, EC 202, at 6:30 pm. Contact: Sherrie Caradonna, scaradonna@san.rr.com .

Moms on the Move to resume after summer break

Looking for a place to connect with other moms of toddlers? Moms on the Move, a Tuesday morning play group for moms and their tots, will begin meeting again on Tuesday, September 7. Bring a snack for you and your child and be prepared for adult conversation, fun with your child, and fellowship with other moms. Meet from 9:30-11 am in Banana Bay (Education Center 104). Contact: Leanette Golish, leanette3@hotmail.com .

Lead a small group

Core Groups are especially designed to provide home fellowship locations in neighborhoods throughout San Diego . Most Core Groups meet Sunday evenings and use prepared discussion guides based on Pastor Bob's sermon from that morning. They are great times to connect with other SDFA attenders and to discuss God's Word together. More Core Groups are needed. If you have some small group training or experience and would like to lead a group, please contact Pastor Ed Chapman at the church office.

College Group moves to Mondays

If you're in the 18-25 age range and enjoy getting together with others to grow in your faith, then you're invited to the weekly College-Age group for a time of Bible discussion and just hanging out. Beginning this week, meetings move to Monday nights. Meet at 7 pm in the Education Center, upstairs, room EC 205 (Fireside Room). For more information, please contact “Surf Shop Matt” Gardner, 858.220.2781.

Route 66 revving up the book of Romans for fall

Come join Pastor Bob Buschman on Wednesday nights as Route 66 resumes on September 8. Route 66 is a journey through the 66 books of the book in an insightful, chapter-by-chapter teaching series. The series picks up in the book Romans, the apostle Paul's brilliant defense of the Christian faith. The informal setting includes coffee and time for discussion. If Route 66 isn't part of your routine, stop by and give it a try! Meet at 6:30 pm in the Chapel.

New Young Marrieds weekly fellowship meets Sunday mornings

Young marrieds (20s-30s-ish) are invited to a weekly time to grow together as they navigate this amazing season of life. Come for a weekly time of fun, inspiration and connection with others! The class is led by the dynamic teaching duo of James and Arlene Pellicane and welcomes all young couples, both with and without children. For more information, contact James or Arlene at pellicane@cox.net.

Wednesday Nights offer options for adults, youth and children

Children - There are age-level events for kids of all ages. Nursery care is offered, and our pre-schoolers meet in our Banana Bay room for fun and activities. Boys' and girls' clubs meet for K-5, with scout-styled activities that welcome any child, any time.

Youth - Epic combines student-led worship, cool games and dynamic teaching for students grades 6 to 12. Meets in our cafe-styled Student Center.
